Dorothy Petty of Savanna, Illinois formerly of Mt. Carroll, Illinois passed away January 3, 2006 peacefully at her home in Pinnacle Place. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2006 at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Reverend Mark Harkness of Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church will officiate. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2006 prior to the service at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born to Cloyd and Lura Mills January 26, 1920 in Wayne City, Illinois. She attended school in Wayne City and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School. While working at the Walgreens store in Mount Vernon she caught the eye of Charles Myers; the two were married in February, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri. Dorothy and Charles lived in Danville, Illinois before settling in Mt. Carroll. Following Charles' death in 1957, Dorothy married Robert Petty July 29, 1961 in Mt. Carroll, where they lived until Robert passed away in 1981. Dorothy worked as the Assistant Librarian at Frances Shimer College in Mt. Carroll for 30 years and at Eaton Corporation in Savanna for 10 years. She was an avid Bridge player, and a long time member of the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church. Survivors include Robert and Judith (Myers) Duncan of Brandon, Florida, Charles Thomas and Jeanne Myers of Columbia, Maryland and Stephen and Elizabeth Myers of Dallas, Texas. Grandchildren Carolyn, Robert, Christina, Stephen, Cynthia, Paul, Eric, Christopher, and Devon as well as great-grandchildren Ian and Eric brought special joy to Dorothy's life. She was preceded in death by her brother Donald Mills, daughter Carolyn Myers, husband Charles Myers, and husband Robert Petty.
