Dorothy Irene Holling, age 102, of Savanna, Illinois passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. A private interment will take place in the Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna.
Dorothy was born March 27, 1912 in Albany, Illinois, on Nowton farm, the daughter of Anthony and Ellen (Brasmer) Van Buer. She was first married to John E Durham, who served as the First Sergeant of the 52nd Ordnance Company at the Savanna Proving Grounds, and died in 1940. She married Henry Holling in 1945 in Savanna. Henry died in 1973. Dorothy was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Savanna. She enjoyed spending her days outdoors, gardening and fishing.
Dorothy will be dearly missed by her daughter, Charlene M. Bell of Savanna; two grandsons, Franklin T.(MeOsha) Bell of Ft. Worth, Texas and Scott H. Bell of Anamosa, Iowa; three great grandchildren, Brian Bell of Santee, California, Kenyada Dorothy Helen Bell of Augusta, Georgia and Leslie Estella GraceLynn Bell of Ft. Worth, Texas.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, and all her siblings, Elisabeth Wood, Clemmens Van Buer, Moritz Maurice, Anna Naftzger, Peter Bamam Van Buer, Lettie Dina Bender, Lauretta Gertrude Lease, Amelia Augusta Repsus, Fridrich Milhelm Van Buer, Joseph Enard Van Buer, Wilhelm Louis Van Buer, and Catherine Thresa Victoria Bouseman.
