Dorothy Marie Breuning, age 78, of Savanna, Illinois, died Saturday, August 5, 2006 at her home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at the Law Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, Illinois. Pastor Michael Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Savanna Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. A general memorial fund has been established in Dorothy’s name. Dorothy was born April 12, 1928 in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of Enoch and Elizabeth (Monn) Green. She was a homemaker who loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy was a waitress at local area restaurants and she also worked at the National Lock Factory in Savanna, Illinois. She enjoyed camping and traveling, and visiting with her family and friends. Dorothy’s house was a gathering place, always full of family and laughter. She never turned anyone away, greeting everyone with open arms. She loved music; dancing, camping, going to garage sales with her loved ones and watching “Days Of Our Lives”. When you think of a beautiful nurturing person, you think of Dorothy Breuning.
Dorothy is survived by three sons; Terry Tipp of Savanna, Illinois, David (Diana) Tipp, of Bettendorf, Iowa and Richard (Dee) Breuning of Mount Carroll, Illinois; five daughters, Lisa (Rick Chobar) Breuning, of Plainfield, Illinois, Tammie (Tim Guenzler) Sipes of Savanna, Gloria (Jim) Scott of Lander, Wyoming, Jeanette (Jason) Sturtevant of Savanna, and Peggy (Robert) Cini of Starkville, Mississippi; 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister Hazel Anderson of Savanna.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, six sisters and one son Ronnie Tipp.
