Dorothea Ruth Thill, age 100 of Baraboo, Wisconsin, formerly of Hanover, Illinois died on Friday, May 28, 2010 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center with her family by her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Larry Bakke officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Graveside services and burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 3, 2010 in the Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover.
Dorothea was born July 12, 1909, the daughter of Edward and Bertha (Boetcher) Lombard in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dorothea was united in marriage to Hilbert Eugene Thill on March 9, 1928. Hilbert died on May 18, 1974.
Dorothea had various sewing jobs including a glove factory in Galena, Illinois as well as the Woolen Shirt Factory in Hanover. Dorothea was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Hanover and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Baraboo. In her free time, Dorothea enjoyed sewing, reading and crocheting. Most of all, Dorothea loved spending time with her family and friends.
Dorothea will be dearly missed by three children, Robert (Betty) Thill of Dubuque, Iowa, Kay (Mark) Pink of Monroe, Wisconsin and Thomas (Mickey) Thill of Baraboo; twenty-one grandchildren; forty-even great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.
Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hilbert; sons, Hilbert Thill, Jr., and Donald Thill; one grandson, Thomas Pink; and three sisters, Miriam Burns, Beatrice Menzimer and Elinor O’Brien.
