Doris Lea Behn, age 72, of Sabula, Iowa, died on Monday, March 31, 2008 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2008 at the Green Island Congregational Church, Green Island, Iowa. A Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Preston, Iowa. Burial will be in the Reeseville Cemetery, rural Miles, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established in Doris's memory.
Doris was born on August 21, 1935, the daughter of Leslie W. and Mavis M. (Baker) Daniels, in Green Island, Iowa. She attended various schools in Sabula, Green Island, and Spragueville, Iowa. Doris married Arnold W. Behn on February 26, 1954, at the Green Island Congregational Church, Green Island, Iowa.
Doris was a homemaker who loved caring for her family. She farmed with her husband on their family dairy farm, located between Sabula and Bellevue, Iowa, since 1964. Doris loved going dancing with her husband, Arnold. She enjoyed spending time with her circle of friends, better known as "The Clique". Doris was known for her cooking, especially her apple crisp and coconut cream pie. She loved spending time with her family and playing card games, such as Skit Skat and Euchre.
Doris is survived by her husband, Arnold of Sabula, Iowa; two sons, Richard (Deborah) Behn and Terry Behn, both of Sabula, Iowa; three daughters, Jenell (Allan) Trenkamp of Preston, Iowa, Rochelle (Stanley) Pataska of Sabula, Iowa, Darcie Sweeney of Camanche, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Jamie (Natasha) Behn, Nicholas Trenkamp, Jeremy (Sara) Trenkamp, Lindsay Trenkamp, Brandy (Brandon) Vorbeck, Jason Pataska, Bobbi Jo (Josh) Petersen, Merissa, Adrianna, and Payton Sweeney; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marilyn Williams and Beverly (Robert) Wylie of Maquoketa, Iowa, Myrna (Darrell) Kaczinski of Delmar, Iowa, and Judy (Dale) Pataska of Green Island, Iowa; four brothers, Milton (Marion) Daniels of Preston, Iowa, Arlo (LouAnn) Daniels of Green Island, Iowa, Jerry (Bonnie) Daniels and Dale (Gayle) Daniels of Miles, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Daniels of Green Island, Iowa and Emilie Daniels of Maquoketa, Iowa, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Karen and Darlene; and four brothers, Jack, Donald, Norbert, and Clifford.
