Dodie was born March 10, 1944, in Charleston, IL, the daughter of Roy Finch and Jesse Edna Williams. She graduated from Charleston High School with the class of 1962 and soon after met her husband, John. On February 8, 1963, Dodie married John Stine. They would go on to have five children and remain by each-other’s side for 60 years until John’s passing in 2023. She was well known as a faithful military wife, a dedicated mother to her children and a mother to everyone she had encountered.
Dodie enjoyed many things in life. She was an active member at the Community Church in Savanna. Some of her favorite pastimes included watching Wheel of Fortune with John, True Crime shows, and collecting VC Andrews books. She was especially known for making the best fried chicken, even though she couldn’t stand eating chicken herself!
Most importantly though, Dodie loved her family. She cherished her time with her husband, children, and especially her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her sons, John (Tracy) Stine, of Charleston, IL, Eddie (Sabrina) Stine, of Hanover, IL, and Roy (Esther) Clarus-Stine, of Hemsbach, Germany; daughters, Bonnie Mann, of Savanna, Karla (Howard) Maupin, of Charleston, and “adopted” daughter, Patsy Davis of Dubuque, IA; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Dodie is preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Roy and Jesse; her stepdad, Eddie L. Stewarts “Pops”; and her siblings, Lorraine McCormick, Joe Ann Bullard, Alan Finch, Ursa Johnson, Edna Louise Finch, Judy Stewart and Irvin Finch, and her grandson Dalton.
