Donna Marie Peterson

Donna Marie Peterson, age 75, of Sabula, Iowa, died on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Sabula United Methodist Church, Sabula, Iowa. Burial will take place in Sterling Cemetery, rural Sabula. Memorials may be given to the Sabula United Methodist Church in Donna’s memory.

Donna was born on October 21, 1943, the daughter of Robert and Marie (Teshak) Arkenberg in Maquoketa, Iowa. Donna’s mother passed away when she was a little girl. Robert soon remarried and Donna was raised by Robert and his wife, Emma. She was raised Catholic and attended Catholic School in Sugar Creek, Iowa. Donna married Rodger Kinney on September 21, 1961 and they had three children, Barry, Joe, and Cindy. Rodger died on September 5, 1973. Donna later married Richard Peterson on June 14, 1975 in St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Sabula.

Donna was a homemaker who cherished taking care of her family. She was a devout Christian and always had a smile for everyone. She attended the Sabula United Methodist Church, where she was active with a special prayer group. Donna and her husband loved to travel, especially taking cruises together. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing and knitting and knitted winter hats for the less fortunate. Most of all, Donna cherished spending time with her family, friends, and her dog, Bow.

Donna will be dearly missed by her husband, Richard; two sons, Barry (Joy) Kinney of Spokane, Washington and Joe (Debbie) Kinney of Manassas, Virginia; one daughter, Cindy (Rick) Stamp of Marshalltown, Iowa; three grandchildren, Susan (Derek) Kuhnhenn of Minot, North Dakota, Megan (Shane) Johnson of Minot, and Trevor Stamp of Marshalltown; four great grandchildren, Caleb and Brody Kuhnhenn, and Hailey and Olivia Johnson; one brother, Paul (Susan) Arkenberg of Bellevue, Iowa; and one sister, Ann Scott of Houma, Louisiana.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Robert, Marie, and Emma; her first husband, Rodger; one infant sister, Katherine; and one brother, Henry Arkenberg.
