Donna J. Eadie, of Hanover, IL, passed away at her home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 30, at St. John the Evangelist in Hanover. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 29, at the Law Jones Funeral Home in Hanover, as well as one hour prior to the visitation at the church.
Donna was born October 25, 1948, daughter of Hans and Margaret (Barron) Wild. She was the youngest of 13 children, and grew up on the family farm outside of Hanover. Donna’s family were homesteaders, making most of what they ate, used, and wore. It was in Hanover where Donna met the love of her life, Lynn Eadie. She was pulled over by officer Eadie for speeding, and needless to say she did not receive a ticket that day. Donna and Lynn married on June 5, 1971. Together they raised two children and celebrated 44 years of marriage until Lynn’s passing in 2015.
While raising her family, Donna put in lots of work on the Eadie family farm, as well as working nights at Eaton Corp, running the guide machine assembly. She was a ball of energy, and had an incredibly hard work ethic. On an average day, Donna worked late at the factory, stayed up until 3:00 a.m. making cakes, then woke early to send her kids off to school and finish the farm chores.
Donna had the mind of an artist. Besides making beautiful and delicious cakes, she liked to paint and sketch in her free time. She loved passing time by watching westerns, especially Gunsmoke. She watched every episode, of every season, over three times. At the center of Donna’s life was faith and family. She was a life long Catholic, and had a special relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren. Donna’s loving nature, and driven spirit lives on in those she loved most.
Donna will be dearly missed by her two sons, Cap (Cecilia) Eadie of Hanover, and Charlie (Terence Maikels) Eadie of Seattle, Washington; four grandchildren, Natalie, Ella, and Cormac Eadie, Brinley Berning, and one grandchild on the way; three siblings, Alberta Wild, Nellie (Nicolas) Bainbridge, and Herman Wild; and many nieces and nephews.
Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Lynn; her parents, Hans and Margaret; and her siblings, William, Mary, John, Margaret, Patrick, Frederick, Michael, and Thomas.
