Donald Wurster

May 7, 1928 — December 21, 2013

Donald Wurster farmed all of his life on the family farm before moving into Elizabeth, where he and his wife Margaret, made a quick habit of helping others by providing transportation when needed. At the age of 85, Don passed into Heaven on December 21, 2013 from the Good Samaritan Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Carroll. Cremation will take place and no services will be held at this time.
Don was born May 7, 1928 in Freeport, the son of George and Chloe (Parks) Wurster. He was raised on the family farm. He attended the Derinda Country School. On February 14, 1952, Don married Margaret Schaible in St. Paul's Parsonage, Hanover. Don and Margaret raised two children on the family farm, and celebrated sixty-one years of marriage.
A life-long farmer, Don especially like to work with cattle. After moving into town, Don took up employment at the Elizabeth Sale Barn, where he worked for several years. Don is remembered by his children as a very attentive father, helping them raise animals and spinning memorable quotes like, "step high in the grass," teaching them how to keep their pant-legs dry. Every year, Don would collect hundreds of walnuts and took on the welcomed chore of hulling and cracking. His enjoyment was knowing that someone would enjoy the meats. Don was a member of the Derinda Trinity Lutheran Church near Elizabeth.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Margaret of Elizabeth; a son, Brad (Sally) Wurster on the family farm near Elizabeth; and a daughter, Brenda (Bruce) Trost of Miramar Beach, Florida; three grandsons, Adam Wurster (Jessi Whitmer), Jeff (Julia) Trost and Scott (Julie) Trost; and two great granddaughters, Makenna Wurster and Leighton Wurster. Don is preceded in death by both parents.
