Domenic Scorsolini, age 83, of Savanna, Illinois, died Friday, September 6, 2019 at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1100 11th Avenue N, Clinton Iowa.
Burial will be at 3:00pm Saturday at Spring Lake Cemetery, Savanna. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00am Saturday, September 14, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna.
Domenic was born July 18, 1936 in Ferentillo, Italy, the son of Giuseppe and Pia (Pennacchi) Scorsolini. On August 25, 1957, Domenic married Maria Fusco in her hometown Positano, Italy. Domenic and Maria celebrated 46 years of marriage until her passing in 2004.
Domenic and Maria moved to London, England in 1956, where Domenic could pursue his dream of becoming an expert chef. During this time, they began raising three children, Pia, Joe and Lee. They moved to the United States in 1982 where Domenic then took an opportunity to operate his own family restaurant, opening Domenic and Maria's Restaurant in Savanna in 1985. The restaurant was well-known with a great following, remaining open until October 2010.
Domenic was passionate about cooking, but his number one passion was serving his God, Jehovah. He loved reading and studying the Bible and memorized many scriptures. He regularly engaged in the door-to-door ministry and loved to talk to people about his faith.
Domenic will be dearly missed by his loving children, a daughter Pia (Mark)Spencer of Savanna and two sons, Joe Scorsolini of Savanna, and Lee Scorsolini of California, a granddaughter Melissa Goodell of Savanna, and a sister Angela Cimino of California.
Domenic is preceded in death by his wife Maria in 2004 and two brothers.
