Dianne Lynn Miller

January 31, 1952 — September 25, 2023

Dianne Lynn Miller, age 71, of Savanna, IL passed away September 25, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center, in Clinton, IA. A private memorial service will be held. Family and friends are invited to share in Dianne’s life at lawjonesfuneralhome.com.

Dianne was born January 31, 1952, in Rice Lake, WI, the daughter of Emmett and Lorraine (Towle) Huston. She attended school in Sheboygan County, WI, graduating from Cedar Grove Belgium High School with the class of 1970. After high school, she moved to Illinois for a short time before relocating again to Monroe, Wisconsin, where she married Gary Leopold. Together they had a son, Chris.

Later in life, Dianne moved to Savanna, Illinois where she married her second husband, Terry Miller. She worked for several years as a kitchen cook at Big Meadows nursing home. She had a passion for cooking and baking, so naturally, she greatly enjoyed her job. After her husband, Terry, passed in 2019, Dianne moved to Mest Manor in Savanna, where she quickly ingratiated herself to her fellow residents. She would cook big meals for everyone many times per year and would regularly offer free rides to those who couldn’t drive themselves to their appointments.

When Dianne wasn’t doing things for others, she enjoyed fishing and eagle watching; she always knew where the best nests were. She also liked to play horseshoes and was an avid book reader.

Dianne is survived by her siblings, Elaine (James) Veldboom, of Oostburg, WI, Dale (Kathi) Huston, of Cedar Grove, WI, Tom Huston, of Plymouth, WI, Fred Huston, of Fond du Lac, WI, and Charlie Huston, of East Dubuque, IL; sister-in-law, Sandy Huston, of Monroe, WI; and many nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives. Dianne is preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Lorraine; husband, Terry; son, Chris Leopold; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Joe Stasik; and brother, Emmett “Jim” Huston.
