Diane Vallone was victorious in life, overcoming her obstacles, allowing herself to live with fullness and meaning. This is the legacy that she leaves her family, "job well done." At the age of 72, after an extended illness, Diane passed into God's care on Friday, December 27, 2013 at the FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, Illinois.
Diane Kay was born December 11, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Al and Florence Yurkas. Her father passed away when Diane was just three years old. Due to the times, Diane spent several years in foster care and was reunited with family as a young woman. She worked hard on her education attending Fengar High School in Roseland and then receiving her GED from the local community college. On March 12, 1966, Diane married Lawrence Vallone in Blue Island, Illinois. They raised three children. Diane worked hard as a housekeeper and homemaker. Through sheer determination, she overcame many struggles in life.
Diane always kept her grandchildren close to her heart. They were her biggest joy and filled her life. She was always proud of the fact that she, her daughter, Deanna and her granddaughter, Kaitlin, all shared the same birthday, December 11. In later years, Diane began one of her best friendships, with her pet dog named Scooter, after rescuing him from the Humane Society.
Diane will be dearly missed by Lawrence Vallone of Lake Carroll; their three children, Raymond (Dawn) Vallone of Nashville, Tennessee, Deanna (Scott) Brack of Dyer, Indiana and Lawrence (Vivian) Vallone III of Crown Point, Indiana; four grandchildren, Michael Vallone, James Vallone, Cody Brack and Kaitlin Brack; and a great granddaughter, Claire Vallone. Diane is preceded in death by both parents.
A Memorial Service will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014 with a Celebration of Life Gathering from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. prior to the service, at the Fair Meadow Community Church of the Nazarene, 1601 Fran Lin Parkway, Munster, Indiana 46321.
