Diane June Swanson Kostecki

Diane June Swanson Kostecki, age 76, of the Elizabeth, IL area passed away July 10, 2023 at Dubuque Specialty Care. There will be a brief visitation at Law Jones Funeral Home, in Elizabeth, on Saturday, July 15, from 11 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. We will then process to Woodbine Cemetery for a committal service. Diane was born June 11, 1947, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Russell and Grace (Holm) Swanson. She graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School with the class of 1965, and enrolled in Bloom Township Junior College (now Prairie State College). She also worked in Chicago, where she met and married John Kostecki, Jr. Together they had two girls and moved to Boulder County, CO for John’s work.

Diane adapted well to her new home state and went to work in administration for the State of Colorado, first in their Boulder office, then their Denver office, ultimately retiring from there.

Diane was a truly loving mother, and later, grandmother, who was always her girls’ and grandchildren’s number one cheerleader! She loved being a grandma more than anything and never passed up an opportunity to show it. She loved to sew, knit, and quilt, making baby blankets for the whole family, and even many of her friends’ babies and children.

She was proud of her family and was passionate about her Swedish heritage, spending many hours exploring her family’s genealogy. She will be remembered fondly by many and will be deeply missed by her daughters, Ami Nawrocki, of Drexel Hill, PA and Lori (Kevin Moyers) Kostecki, of Boulder, CO; four grandchildren, Nicolaus Russell Nawrocki, Peter Jacob Nawrocki, Alexander Edward Nawrocki, and Abigail Grace Harris; and two sisters, Judith K. Stadelman, of Hanover, IL and Janis (Michael) Fanning, of Homewood, IL.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Grace, and brother, Russell “Rusty” Swanson.
