will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Preston, IA.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 20, at the church. Memorials can
be made to Clarke University Student Success Center.
Diane was born June 24, 1939, daughter of Clarence and Mercedes (Zwack) Kintzle. She
grew up in Dubuque, IA, attending St. Anthony’s Grade School. Diane went on to St Joseph’s
Academy, graduating with the class of 1957, then on to Clarke College. While in high school
Diane met the love of her life, Carl Kueter. After a chance encounter, and a car ride up the hill,
the rest was history. Diane and Carl married on December 27, 1958. They raised three
daughters, and celebrated 64 years of marriage.
Diane and Carl spent their married lives in Miles, only moving once, to a different house
across the street. Their marriage was often referred to as “a match made in heaven,” and they
brought the joy they shared into their home, and the lives of their children. They did
everything together, attending many musical performances, traveling the world and their
favorite, visiting their grand and great- grandchildren. After a brief ownership in retail, Diane
began providing childcare for several families in the school district. She was a caregiver
through and through stepping in to assist her daughters’ families during times of need and
was the utmost devoted to caring for Carl.
Diane loved her home and family. She was the essence of love, self-giving, and rock solid
faith. Her greatest joy in life was watching her children, grandchildren, and great-
grandchildren grow. She looked forward to gathering with all for countless holidays and family
celebrations. Diane’s legacy of being the best grandma is remembered by her shopping for
special items to spoil the grandchildren and surprise them with trips to the “Secret Closet.”
Other favorite memories by the grandchildren and passed along to the great-grandchildren
include gingerbread house decorating on Thanksgiving Day, Bingo games, and ice cream
sundaes with all the toppings.
Throughout her life, Diane had a strong and deep faith. She frequently prayed novenas,
offering up her intentions for family and friends. She was parish council secretary for many
years at St. Joseph’s Church, taught religious education, and led Pre-Cana alongside Carl for
a number of years. Diane can trace her strong connection to God and The Church back to her
father, a designer of church interiors, and her maternal grandfather, a church builder.
Following their examples Diane led her family in the faith. Diane’s faith, her love, and her
giving heart live on in those she loved most.
