Diane Lynn Kottman, age 73, passed away at Big Meadows Nursing Home, in Savanna, IL, on March 21, 2025. A graveside funeral service will take place at Elizabeth Cemetery, Saturday May 3, at 10 a.m.
Diane was born December 4, 1951, in Ogden, UT, the daughter of Ralph and Merle Ann (Moore) Thomure. She grew up and attended school in Ogden, before entering the healthcare industry as a CNA. Throughout her life, Diane drove semi-truck for more than 20 years, became a semi driving instructor, worked in home healthcare, and in group homes for the developmentally disabled.
Not surprisingly, Diane leaves behind a legacy of compassion. Nearly all who met her found her immediately endearing due to her genuine kindness. She lived in various places, often moving to assist her family. Family was everything to her, and she was always willing to go where she could help support her children and grandchildren. She also loved animals, especially her dogs.
Diane was the type of person who would drop everything to improve the lives of those she loved; such as moving in with her wheelchair-bound uncle, or moving across the country when a new grandbaby came into the world. When she took time for herself, Diane enjoyed reading, camping, travelling, and loved to thrift.
Diane will be dearly missed by her daughters, Jolynn (Don) Woolner, of Darlington, WI, Anita (Ashraf) Arafat, of Elgin, IL, and Jennifer (Larry) Cornelius, of Perry, GA; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and siblings Teresa Furubotten, of Ogden, UT, Diedra Emmett, of Ogden, Mary Beth Bonet, of Kentucky, and Kathee (Gary) Thomure, of Kentucky; and sister-in-law, Naomi Thomure. Diane is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and a grandson, Ricky Taylor.
