Diane Joy Jess, age 75, of Sabula, Iowa, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center South in Clinton, Iowa. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Sabula with Reverend Robert Krueger officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery Sabula, Iowa. A memorial gathering will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. A memorial fund has been established in Diane’s memory. Diane was born on May 21, 1934, the daughter of Earl and Rosa (Hass) Rogers in rural Sabula. She graduated from Sabula High School with the Class of 1952. Diane married Arnold A. Jess on February 18, 1955 in the Calvary Lutheran Church, Sabula. Diane worked for the Sabula Speaker for twenty years and later went to work for Elkay Manufacturing, Savanna for ten years until her retirement. Diane was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church and the Sabula VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, fishing, the outdoors, and camping with her family. Most of all, Diane cherished spending time with her family and friends.Diane is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Arnold; two sons, Randy (Susie) Jess of Decatur, Illinois, James (Roberta) Jess of Clinton, Iowa; two daughters, Cathy (Paul) Mangin of Clinton and Annette (Ricky) Jess-Mussman of Clinton; a daughter in-law, Karen Jess-Jungen of Sabula; thirteen grandchildren, Melanie, Brett, Ryan, Jennifer, Travis, Tyler, Aleigh, Ashley, Curt, Chris, Eric, Brandon and BreAnna; six great grandchildren; and two sisters, Ila Lappe of Indianola, Iowa and Violet Smith of Sabula.Diane is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ben; one daughter, Cindy; a granddaughter, Miranda Jess; three brothers and seven sisters
