Dennis Lee Strauch

Dennis Lee Strauch, age 76, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at FHN Hospital in Freeport, Illinois. A Memorial Gathering with refreshments, will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Mt. Carroll Ambulance Association, 206 E Seminary St. Mt. Carroll, Il 61053.
Dennis was born February 14, 1941, the son of Richard F. and Hazel D. (Schneider) Strauch in Freeport. He attended the Chadwick High School and graduated with the Class of 1959. Dennis served in the United States Army in Vietnam. He attended the Rockford Business College. On June 26, 1964, Dennis married Betty Olivia (Motley) in Salisbury, North Carolina. They raised two children and celebrated 52 years of marriage. Betty passed away on March 24, 2017.
He worked for the Chadwick Lumber Company, and later worked for National Manufacturing Company in Sterling-Rockfalls, retiring in 2002. Dennis was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Mt. Carroll. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, and spending time with family and close friends.
Dennis is survived by two children, Michele (Matt) Holcomb of Firestone, Colorado, Eric (Donna) Strauch of Lanark; five grandchildren, Shelby Moore of Denver, Colorado, Keegan and Avery Strauch of Lanark, Michael Holcomb of Montrose, California, Stephen Holcomb and Knekola Holcomb of Firestone; two sisters, Sherie (William) Leesman of Galt, Illinois, Lindy (Craig) Iben of Clinton, Iowa; one sister in-law, Janice Strauch of Chadwick and many nieces and nephews. Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; both parents; and a brother, Gary.
