Dennis N. Padget

SAVANNA, Ill. — Dennis N. Padget, age 70, of Savanna, Illinois, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at his home in Savanna. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 25, 2010, at the Law - Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, with Pastor Wayne Carvell of the Church on a Hill officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 24, from 3 to 6:00 p.m. at the Law - Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Dennis was born November 23, 1939, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Murl and Carol (Drake) Padget. He graduated from Moline High School. Dennis served in the United States Navy in the early 1960’s. He married Sharon Lowe on October 12, 2001, in Mt. Carroll, Illinois.

Dennis worked as a crane operator for Case I.H. in East Moline and for the last 11 years worked as a security guard at CF Industries in Albany, Illinois. He was a member of the Church on a Hill in Savanna. Dennis was an avid gun and knife collector, and enjoyed going to local gun shows. He had coffee every morning at his friend Noel Chico’s home. Dennis enjoyed history, especially the World War II era, and liked War, Action, and Western movies. Dennis also liked white cake with vanilla ice cream, which would be replaced by peppermint ice cream around the holidays. He loved his dog Sassy and his cat Highway.

Dennis is survived by his wife Sharon Padget of Savanna, Illinois; one daughter, Rene Padget of Minnesota; one son, Todd Padget of Minnesota; one step - daughter, Tabitha (Kerry) Kelty of East Moline, Illinois; two granddaughters; three step - grandchildren; and a special aunt, Helen Drake of East Moline.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia Padget.
