Delos C. "Tiny" Groezinger

Delos C. “Tiny” Groezinger, age 73, of Elizabeth, Illinois passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Midwest Medical Center in Galena, Illinois.
Delos was born December 1, 1939 in Freeport, Illinois the son of Alvin M. and Lucille (Mitchell) Groezinger. He graduated from Elizabeth High School in 1957 and attended the University of Wisconsin, Platteville. Delos married Patsy Roberts on July 18, 1958.
Delos was a member of the United States Army Reserve. Delos worked as a supervisor at Micro Switch in Freeport for 30 years. He then sold industrial machine tools for Miller Industrial Service in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for several years. Delos sold and repaired outboard motors and boats with AM Groezinger & Son. He loved spending time at his river cottage, boating, swimming, water skiing, and fishing. He enjoyed big band swing music, singing and dancing. He also enjoyed helping organize the 1957 class reunions.
He was a good grandfather. His house was always open. Several grandchildren lived with him from time to time.
Delos was a past mayor of Elizabeth. He was on the city council and the Director of Public Works. He also was a past member of the Elizabeth Fire Department.
He is survived by his first wife Patsy Roberts Schaible; his children, Sue Ann (Dennis) Roberts of Savanna, Illinois, Scott Alvin (Nicolle) Groezinger of Dekalb, Illinois, Melody Groezinger of Omaha, Nebraska, and David Groezinger of Elizabeth; eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Calvin, Clayton, Jordan, Vincent, Emily, Carson, and Samuel; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Riley, and Kaelen; and a son in-law, Richard (MaryAnn) Theyerl of Rockford, Illinois.
Delos is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Annette Theyerl.
A visitation will be held Wednesday April 3, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Law Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth. A funeral service will be held Thursday April 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Elizabeth United Methodist Church. A gathering and luncheon will follow in the church hall. Burial of ashes will be held at the Elizabeth Cemetery on a later date. Condolences may be left for the family at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com .
