Delores M. Iben

Delores Marie Iben, age 84, of Thomson, Illinois, formerly of Chadwick, Illinois passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the First Lutheran Church, Chadwick. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 22, 2019 at the Church. Burial will take place in the Chadwick Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in Delores’ memory.
Delores was born on April 2, 1934, in Chadwick, the daughter of Vernon and Rosie (Alber) Daehler. She attended Chadwick High School, graduating with the Class of 1952. She later earned her nursing degree from the Swedish American School of Nursing in Rockford, Illinois in 1955. Delores married Lawrence Iben on January 8, 1956. Together they celebrated 63 years of marriage and raised four children.
Delores first worked as a Registered Nurse for the Good Samaritan Society in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. She later served as the Director of Nursing for the Good Samaritan Society in Prophetstown and Mt. Carroll, until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Chadwick, where she was active in several church groups and the church choir. She enjoyed gardening, listening to music, playing piano and traveling. Delores was an avid Cubs fan, and a season ticket holder to the Timberlake Playhouse in Mt. Carroll.
Delores will be dearly missed by her husband, Lawrence; four children, Gary (Lori Whitmarsh) Iben of Mt. Carroll, Craig (Lindy) Iben of Clinton, Iowa, Sharon Iben of Auburn, Illinois, and Amy (Brian) Wills of Carlinville, Illinois; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Ben) Lehman, Brian (Jeanelle) Iben, Noelle Iben and her husband, John Ricke, Shawn Iben, Haley Wills and Aaron Wills; three great-grandchildren, Aubrie, Weston and Whitley; and two brothers, Marvin (June) Daehler of Amherst, Massachusetts, and Mervyn (Mary Ann) Daehler of Antioch, Illinois.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Rosie; a brother, Ronald Daehler; and a daughter-in-law, Jill Iben.
