Delbert Lyle Jenks, age 87, of Savanna, Illinois, died Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, Illinois. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at the Lower York Cemetery in Thomson, Illinois. Military rites will be accorded by the Thomson American Legion Post #1025.
Delbert was born on July 27, 1920, the son of James and Mae (Krebs) Jenks in Clinton, Iowa. Delbert served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Delbert married Pearl June Holman on October 25, 1948 in Thomson, Illinois. Pearl died on July 15, 2007.
Delbert worked in the tool and dye department for General Motors in Willow Springs, Illinois for thirty-four years. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union and the American Legion. Delbert was also a fifty-two year member of the Masons. Delbert loved reading the newspapers, and doing crossword puzzles. He loved expanding his knowledge by reading.
Delbert will be dearly missed by one son, Robert E. (Sharon) Jenks of Lombard, Illinois and one grandson, Bradley Jenks St. Ores of Phoenix, Arizona.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pearl; one daughter, Rondi St. Ores; one brother, James Jenks and two sisters, Carmen and Deetta.
