Debra Jackson was all about family, her husband, daughters, granddaughter, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. At the age 52, Debra passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church, Savanna. Burial will take place in Spring Lake Cemetery, Savanna. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2015 at the church. A memorial fund has been established in Debra’s memory.
Debra was born May 7, 1963, the daughter of Charles Jr. and Mary Lou (Snodgrass) Belander in Savanna. She graduated in 1981 from Savanna High School where she was very active in Volleyball and Basketball. After high school, she attended AIT Business School in Davenport Iowa. Debra married Tony Jackson on June 4, 1994.
Debra worked for the City of Savanna as a billing clerk. She was a teacher’s aide and bus driver for the Savanna Head Start Program for many years. She was also a homemaker and would often spend her time at home babysitting children. She was a loving, caring person who was always worrying about others. She loved children—especially her preschoolers at the Head Start program. Debra adored her daughters, nieces and nephews.
Debra will be dearly missed by her husband of 21 years, Tony; three daughters, Kira Jo Jackson of Stockton, Illinois, Jordyn and Alysa Jackson, both of Savanna; a granddaughter, Emma; seven siblings, Charles (Debra) Belander III of Lemont, Illinois, Sally Marken of Savanna, Susan (Jeff) McIntyre of Savanna, John (Renee) Belander of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, Mary (Steve) Klein of Maquoketa, Iowa, Salinda Belander and Joseph Belander both of Savanna; mother-in-law, Marie Jackson; three brothers-in-law, Sam Jr., Howard and Alex; a sister-in-law, Marjorie; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Lou; her father-in-law, Sam Jackson; a sister, Linda Belander and another sister in infancy, Mary Louise and a niece, Jennifer.
