Dawn R. Sager, age 66, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018, at home. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 25, 2018 in the Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna. A memorial fund has been established in Dawn’s memory.
Dawn was born on February 3, 1952, in Savanna, the daughter of Paul and Betty (Oberheim) Sager. She attended Savanna High School and graduated with the Class of 1970. She later attended Clinton Community College in Clinton, Iowa, Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas, and Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington, where she earned her Associate’s Degree.
Dawn worked as a saleswoman at The Fashion Shop in Savanna until her health caused her to retire in 1984. She also worked as the church secretary at the Savanna First Presbyterian Church and volunteered as a camp counselor at Camp Stronghold in Oregon, Illinois. Dawn was an avid reader who also enjoyed listening to Christian, and 1970’s and 1980’s pop music. She was a fan of soap operas, especially General Hospital. She also enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. She was an exceptional crossword puzzle solver and loved crafting with plastic canvases.
Dawn will be dearly missed by her mother, Betty, of Savanna; and two sisters, Paula Sager of Savanna, and Shelly Sager of Valparaiso, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul, and many aunts and uncles.
