Dawn Lucille Phillips

June 9, 1961 — September 7, 2025

Dawn Lucille Phillips, age 64, of Sabula, IA, passed away suddenly, on September 7, 2025 in Davenport, IA. Cremation rites will be accorded and a celebration of Dawn’s life will be held, Saturday, September 20, at the VFW, in Sabula, IA, starting at 4 p.m.

Dawn was born June 9, 1961, in Savanna, IL, to Robert and Aleda (Franzen) Lohmeier. She attended Tipton High School and earned her GED from Eastern Iowa Community College. She later graduated from painter's apprenticeship school at Painters local #676 Davenport, IA.

On September 24, 1994, Dawn married Jim Phillips. They made Sabula, IA their home, up until just recently, when they decided to take home on the road, moving to an RV lifestyle. Dawn worked as a painter most of her life, then a CNC Operator at PMW, and manager/bartender at the VFW in Sabula, IA. She loved her daughter and grandkids unconditionally, and she loved all her time spent with them. Dawn led a fulfilling social life that included plenty of time spent with her family, friends, her dog, Diamond; as well as fishing, camping, cooking, and playing cards. Dawn really enjoyed cooking food for "her" euchre players on Wednesday nights at the VFW.

Dawn will be dearly missed by her husband, Jim; daughter, Tarra (Jason) Voss, of Tipton, IA; grandkids, Ashlyn Voss and Brayden Voss; sisters, Sherry (Jim) Logsden, Raye Lee (Jim) Goethals, Kate (Ronnie) Tappan, Minnie (Lee) Tappan, and Bobbi (Tim) Schuelka. Dawn is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Aleda Lohmeier, and sister, Rhonda Hightower.
