Dave was born December 14th, 1956, son of Charles and Margaret (Hartman) Davenport. He grew up in Savanna and attended Savanna Schools. He married Debra Edwards on October 31, 2003.

Dave has three daughters, Erin, Amber, Kayla and Stepdaughter Jennifer

Dave worked in local factories for much of his life and retired as a semi driver.

Dave loved music. He played both the guitar and banjo. His favorite types of music to play and listen too were country and bluegrass. He loved attending bluegrass festivals with his wife, Debra, and his brother, Jim. At the festivals they enjoyed the music and especially liked jamming over bluegrass tunes with other musicians. Dave's favorite venue was Mooney Hollow south of Bellevue, IA. He was also a long-time member of the Savanna Moose Lodge.

You would usually find Dave tinkering around in his garage. He liked to keep all his lawn care equipment in tip top shape. Dave was very generous with his talents and helped neighbors with their equipment too. He loved helping people with mowing and snow removal during summer and winter.

Dave had a great sense of humor and loved to have a good time. He spent many nights in his garage hanging out with friends. Dave especially loved family get-togethers which he would host at his home. David's fun-loving nature lives on in those he held close.

David will be dearly missed by his wife Debra, three daughters, Erin Acevedo of Sterling, IL, Amber Shepard of Morrison, IL, and Kayla Robertson of Savanna, his stepdaughter Jennifer (Donny) Edwards Engelkens, his sister Lynne (Art) Weaver of Savanna and his brother James (Susan) of Savanna. 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews
