David “Papa” Orien Coyle, 78 of Savanna, IL reunited with the love of his life Etta “Mema” Mathis on April 14th, 2023.
Dave was born on November 5th,1944 in Piggott, Arkansas to Thomas and Thelma (Flowers) Coyle. He graduated from West High School in Aurora, IL in 1962. He was a proud Union Sheet Metal worker for Local 265 and retired in 1998.
Dave enjoyed a variety of hobbies: woodworking, fishing, playing cards, finding a good bargain, traveling, and spending time with “his girls.” He was a hard worker and a jack of all trades. Dave could usually be found in the garage tinkering on one project or another. He defied odds time and time again and lived life to the absolute fullest. Through the gift of organ donation, Dave was able to create many cherished memories and spend time doing the things he loved with the ones he loved the most.
He is survived by his daughters Thelma “TJ” Coyle (Roger) of Thomson, IL and Susan (Eric) Pulfrey of Thomson, IL; sons Chuck Cox (Tristan) of New Orleans, LA, Donavon (Sherry) Cox of Pollard, AR, and Jason Cox of Davenport, IA; his granddaughter & sidekick Jaimie Storjohann and his granddaughters Christy, Melanie, Jana, Raney, Keely, Melissa, Lalania, Falicia, Tara, Michelle, Megan, and numerous great grandchildren; his sisters Norma Williams “his twin,” Kathy Coyle, Rosemary Coyle, Maxine Coyle, and Pearl Coyle; his brothers Al (Sandy) Coyle and Danny (Marcia) Coyle, as well as, several nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Thomas and Thelma (Flowers) Coyle; The love of his life Etta “Mema” Mathis; his daughters Cynthia, Pamela, and Diane; his brothers Tom, Jim, Paul, Wayne, Bob, Ron, and Willie; his sisters Janie and Donna. A joint celebration of life for Dave and Etta “Papa and Mema” will be held at the Argo Fay Methodist Church in Thomson, IL on May 20th, 2023 at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a moment to hug your loved ones extra tight. Time waits for no one.
