David “Dave” L. Brinkmeier, age 62, of Savanna, Illinois loved being part of a large family and was the youngest of 10 siblings. He died Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. A memorial fund has been established in Dave’s memory.
Dave was born June 22, 1951, the son of Ralph and Esther (Earnest) Brinkmeier in Freeport, Illinois. He was raised in Mount Carroll and graduated from Mount Carroll High School. He married Dianne Hottenstein on November 3, 1984 at the First United Methodist Church in Savanna.
Dave worked for Invensys Controls in Hanover, Illinois for forty-four years, before becoming ill in March of 2013. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Savanna, and the Savanna Moose Lodge #1095. Dave enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing and hunting in his younger years. Dave enjoyed hanging out at the Savanna Moose Club and watch Bears and Cubs games—but most of all, he loved to spend time with his family.
Dave is survived by his wife, Dianne; one son, Pat Brinkmeier of Sterling, Illinois; one daughter, Sirena (Jerry) Pintelon of Watseka, Illinois; four grandchildren, Nathaniel, Jasmynne, Shelbi, and Logan; and eight siblings, Dean Brinkmeier of Michigan, Doyle Brinkmeier of California, Ruth (Larry) Letcher of Fulton, Illinois, Eugene (Lynn) Brinkmeier of California, LaVerne (Gloria) Brinkmeier of Rock Falls, Illinois, Myrnice Brinkmeier of Oklahoma, Linda (Dennis) Hafer of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, Gary (Jenann) Brinkmeier of Florida, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Esther, and one brother, Dale.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, Savanna, with Reverend Sejoon Jang officiating. Burial will take place in Spring Lake Cemetery, Savanna. A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, with a Broken Circle Service held by the Savanna Moose Lodge at 2:30 p.m. prior to the visitation at the funeral home.
