Daryl was born December 24, 1976 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Larry and Barbara (Jackson) Holdgrafer. In his younger years, DJ worked on the family farm, and for the family business, Holdgrafer Fencing. He learned to drive tractors, was an avid NASCAR Mark Martin fan, and baby-sat a lot for his sister, Carla.
In his teenage years, he started working for Ardo Schmidt. His senior year of high school, he went to work part-time for Wendling Quarry. He graduated from Preston High School with the Class of 1996. After graduation, he went full-time and worked for 26 years. He always joked and said he was going to retire at 30 years, but anyone who knew DJ knows he would have gone crazy just sitting around.
The past two years, DJ made his life with Tashell Clark. They were so excited to announce the expected arrival of their baby girl, Emery Diane Holdgrafer. She will be making her entrance to the world any day now.
There was never a dull moment when DJ was around. He was always a prankster and jokester, he liked to laugh and have fun. He enjoyed spending time with his nephews, Gregory and Noah, teaching them how to be outdoorsmen. He was also proud of being a Godfather for his cousin Amanda.
Daryl will be dearly missed by his “better half”, Tashell Clark (and daughter-to-be, Emery Diane Holdgrafer) of Miles; his mother, Barbara Holdgrafer of Spragueville; ; two brothers, Gregg (Jennifer) Holdgrafer, of Preston and Curtis (Mindy Eckelberg) Holdgrafer, of Preston; a sister, Carla (John Thines) Holdgrafer, of Preston; Nieces and Nephews, Gregory, Noah, Cheyanna, Pacey, and Brantley. is preceded in death his father, Larry, his grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
