Daryl Elsner

Daryl Elsner, age 57, of Charlotte, Iowa, died Monday, May 24, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at the Miller – Law – Jones Funeral Home in Preston, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, also at the Miller – Law – Jones Funeral Home in Preston. Memorials may be made to the family.

Daryl was born March 8, 1953, in Maquoketa, Iowa, the son of Vernard and Katherine (Fuegen) Elsner. He graduated from Preston High School and earned an Associates Degree from Clinton Community College. Daryl married Lori Schwarz on April 16, 1982, in Low Moor, Iowa.

Daryl worked as an Electrician for Maquoketa Electric Motors and for Caterpillar. He was also a very skilled carpenter and worked various other jobs. Daryl enjoyed reading, hunting, and going on numerous camping trips with his family. Daryl also loved to play music with his daughter Kelly.

Daryl is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Lori Elsner of Charlotte, Iowa; one daughter, Kelly Elsner of Charlotte; his mother, Katherine Elsner of Maquoketa, Iowa; one brother, Garry Elsner; one sister, Darlene Elsner; and two nephews, Greg and Mark Elsner.

Daryl was preceded in death by his father, Vernard Elsner.
