Darlene was born January 6, 1932 in Savanna, in the same neighborhood that she lived her entire life, the Dane Hollow neighborhood. She attended St. John The Baptist Catholic School then graduated from the Savanna High School with the Class of 1949. On December 5, 1958, Darlene married Louis Reusch. They raised three sons, Randy, Kevin and Brian, and celebrated 15 years of marriage until Louis’ passing in January 1, 1974.
Most of all, Darlene loved being a Mom and Grandma. She treasured the time with grandchildren and enjoyed playing catch in the yard, teaching her boys how to play ball. Her friends in the Dane Hollow neighborhood also meant a great deal to her throughout life. Darlene was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where she tried to attend Mass everyday. She made many friends as she worked tending bar at Jack’s Place for over thirteen years, and then O’Canavan’s Pub for over ten years. She was appreciated for her great sense of humor and friendship. Darlene was featured, with her son Brian, on ESPN’s “We The Fans” series in 2017.
Darlene will be dearly missed by her three sons, Randy and Norma Reusch of Elburn, Illinois, Kevin Reusch and fiancé Leilani Strauch of Savanna, and Brian Reusch of Savanna; three grandchildren, Cody Reusch and fiancé Sember Hollis, Brennan Reusch and Patrick and MJ Reusch; two great granddaughters, Hayden and Payton; a niece, Brenda Lambert; and a nephew, Brad Lambert. Darlene is preceded in death by her husband, Louis, and a sister, Elaine Lambert.
