Darlene Grace Queckborner age 91, passed away, Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Chadwick with Reverend Rick Koch of Dutchtown Church Of The Brethren, Milledgeville, officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 21, 2012, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Chadwick. Burial will be in the Chadwick Cemetery. Memorials may be given in Darlene’s memory.
Darlene was born May 28, 1921, the daughter of John and Emma (Fredrick) Wagner in Clyde Township, Illinois. She attended country school. On February 23, 1939, Darlene married Herbert G. Queckborner in Clinton, Iowa. Herbert passed away on October 7, 1977 in Chadwick.
Darlene very much enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing Sunday dinners for all who came. Darlene was a Chicago Cubs Fan and had fun playing Bingo. Most of all she treasured her grandchildren, and the time she spent with family.
Darlene will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Sandi (Kenneth) LaShelle of Thomson, Illinois and Doris “Tootie” (Leonard) Mechling of Freeport, Illinois; her son, Lawrence “Butch” (Inge) Queckborner of Milledgeville; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herbert; one daughter, Beverly Lamm; a grandson, Joshua Green; two brothers, Vernon and Marvin Wagner; and one sister, Alice Witmer.
