Dalvin L. Johnson, age 53, of Hanover, Illinois, died Sunday, September 4, 2011 at his home. Cremation rites will be accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover with Reverend David Vidler officiating. Burial will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula, Iowa. A gathering will be held from 10:00-11:30 a.m., prior to the service at the church.
Dalvin was born on September 13, 1957, the son of Alvin and Mary (Kempter) Johnson in Savanna, Illinois. He attended Hanover area schools. Dalvin worked at Eaton in Hanover and also drove truck, driving for Neumiller in Savanna. He also worked many other jobs, including mowing grass and snow removal. Most of all, Dalvin loved spending time with his daughter, Alyssa. Dalvin also enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his two dogs, Buddy and Puppy.
Dalvin will be dearly missed by one daughter, Alyssa Johnson of Galena; three brothers, Wayne (Carol) Johnson of Sabula, Melvin (Sheree) Johnson of Hanover and Calvin (Sandy) Johnson of Redding, California; four sisters, Jean Jordan of Orangeville, Illinois, Shirley (Steve) Kampmeier of Freeport, Illinois, Sharon (Jerry) Matous of Thomson, Illinois and Connie (Bill) Richard of Nova Scotia, Canada; two sisters in-law, Vicki Darrah of Savanna and Karen Johnson of Sabula; one special friend, Amy Holland of Galena and numerous nieces and nephews. Dalvin is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leslie and Roger Johnson and one brother in-law, Clark Jordan.
