Dale Robert Asmussen

Dale Robert Asmussen, age 78, of Preston, Iowa died at home March 1, 2012. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston, with Pastor Gregory Geier officiating. Burial, including military rites will follow at the Spragueville Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2012 also at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston.
Dale was born March 21, 1933 in Preston, Iowa, the son of Chris and Alice (Carstens) Asmussen. He attended country school. Dale served in the Army from 1953-1955 and was stationed in Korea.
Dale married Peggy Simmons on December 11, 1957 at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston, Iowa. The couple has lived in Preston all their married life. Dale and Peggy enjoyed traveling including many trips to Las Vegas, Branson, and over 10 years of spending winters at their home in Apache Junction, Arizona.
Dale was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston American Legion Post 602, Bellevue Masonic Lodge, Amvets, and Preston Volunteer Fire Department.
Dale is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy, two daughters, Doris (David) Urwin of Bellevue, Nebraska and Dianne (Darrel) Tebbe of Spragueville, Iowa.; six grandchildren, Chris Urwin (Matt Huth) of Clive, Iowa, Michele Tebbe (Craig Claussen) of Spragueville, Iowa, Jeremy Urwin of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Perry (Dacey) Tebbe of Maquoketa, Iowa, Brian (Beth) Urwin of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Nicole Urwin of Bellevue, Nebraska, and six great grandchildren. Dale was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Edna and Doris.
