Cynthia Anne Simik, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. She was born on September 6, 1953, in Aurora, Illinois, to the late Wayne and Barbara (Hankes) Meyer.
Cynthia grew up in the Aurora and Westmont area, attended Holy Trinity Grade School, and graduated from Downers Grove North High School in 1971. On February 10, 1973, she married the love of her life, Ronald Simik, at Holy Trinity in Westmont. Together they raised two sons, Brian and Daniel, and celebrated 53 years of marriage.
A devoted entrepreneur with a lifelong passion for fashion, Cynthia owned and operated Dejavous Designer Resale in Naperville for 13 years, delighting customers with her eye for quality designer clothing and accessories. Earlier in her career, she worked in administrative assistant positions. After moving to the Galena area in 2015, Cynthia continued working part-time in local boutiques, sharing her stylish flair with neighbors and friends.
Cynthia cherished family above all, especially her grandchildren, Madelyne, Luckas, and Lucy. She treasured the time they spent together and spent countless hours making memories with them, from games of Uno to handwritten notes she tucked away just for them. Cynthia also treasured her relationships with family and friends and found great joy in simply being together.
Known for her impeccable style, Cynthia loved dressing up, jewelry, makeup, and shoes, and she took special pleasure in making every occasion beautiful. She also enjoyed sports cars, beginning with her gold Camaro in the 1970s, followed by her 007 BMW convertible and later her Audi convertible. Cynthia was an avid gardener and nature lover who delighted in hummingbirds, deer, owls, and the simple joys of outdoor life at her Galena home. A devoted fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and Olympic figure skating, she enjoyed discussing outfits, skating costumes, and footwear with the same enthusiasm she brought to her own wardrobe.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald “Ron” Simik; her sons, Brian (Rosa) Simik of Joliet and Daniel (Blanca) Simik of Shorewood; her sister, Sue (Jim) Grommes of Hanover; her brother, William (Jennifer) Meyer of Galena; and her adored grandchildren, Madelyne, Luckas, and Lucy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Barbara in 2007 and Wayne in 2010.
