Cynthia Ann (Ritenour) Peak, age 52, of Pace, Florida formerly of Savanna, Illinois, died on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at her sister’s home in Savanna, Illinois surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2011 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Elvira Cemetery, Elvira, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Cindy was born June 24, 1959 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Jerome “Jerry” and Darlene (Sparks) Ritenour. She attended the Savanna Schools. Cindy lived in Savanna while working at Big Meadows Nursing Home, then moved to Indiana and later lived in Florida.
Cindy loved the outdoors, including gardening, the beach, fishing and especially caring for animals. She loved being with friends and family. Cindy was admired for her free-spirit and adventurous attitude.
Cindy is survived by her parents, Jerry and Darlene Ritenour of Savanna; three sisters, Kathy (Lars) Colgan of Savanna, Karen (Bobby) Marburger of Clinton, Iowa and Linda (David) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three brothers, Kevin (Diane) Ritenour of Savanna, Tom (Jenifer) Ritenour of Chadwick and Steve (Jennifer) Ritenour of Corydon, Iowa; Her companion, Ron Jeffers of Pace, Florida; three aunts, Cookie (Lynn) Garlough, Connie Wiese of Charlotte, Iowa, Phyllis Ritenour of Bellview, Nebraska; eight nieces and seven nephews; two great nieces; four great nephews; and her two dogs, Honeynut and Sweet Pea.
