Cynthia Sue (McGinnis) Bird Schleuning, 67, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Eagle point Nursing Center in Clinton, Iowa. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 1 – 3pm Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Majestic Pines Event Center, Thomson, Illinois. Memorials may be given in her honor.
Cindy was born May 14, 1956 in Savanna, the daughter of Paul and Cora Belle (Hamm) McGinnis. She is a 1975 graduate of Thomson High School. In 1979, Cindy married Robert Bird. She immediately gained a step-son, Bobby. She and Robert then had two more sons, Danny and Tony.
Grandkids were the world to Cindy! She loved being a funny Grandma, sweet, gentle and loving. She enjoyed playing games and laughing with the grandkids. She was also creative, and you could often find her drawing or doodling. She enjoyed watching the Voice and her soap operas on TV, along with her favorite drink, a Big Gulp Ice Tea. She also liked to spend time with her “Kathys”, two of her oldest and closest friends, Kathy Monshower and Kathie Woodruff.
Cindy will be dearly missed by two sons, Daniel “Danny” Bird of Freeport and Anthony “Tony” (Jessie) Bird of Stockton; five grandchildren, Ean (Zoe) Bird, Elijah Bird, Zaiden Smith, Jude Bird and William Canon; three siblings, JaneAnn (Don) Groharing of Thomson, Larry “Bim” (Deborah) McGinnis of Thomson and Randy McGinnis of Galva, IL. Cindy is preceded in death by her stepson, Bobby Bird Jr, her parents, Paul and Corabelle; her brother, Paul Jr and her sister, Donna French.
