Curtis A. Hank

September 29, 1959 — January 26, 2020

Curtis Hank, proud son, father, grandfather, and loving fiancé, passed away Sunday, January 26th, at Mercy Hospital in Clinton, IA. He spent his 60 short years doing what he loved, with those that he loved most, be it fishing with his son, or riding four wheelers with his grandchildren, or making new memories with the love of his life, Toni Parr. A celebration of life gathering will be held 2:00 p.m. to 6:00p.m. Friday, January 31st, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, IL. A time of sharing will begin at 5:30p.m. for anyone with a story to tell or a memory to share. All those who attend are strongly encouraged to wear Kansas City Chiefs attire, Curt’s favorite football team. A memorial fund has been established and may be sent to Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna.

Curt was born to Robert Keith Hank and JoAnn (McCollam) Aguirre on September 29th, 1959, in Davenport IA. He attended Davenport West and graduated with the class of 1978. Right out of high school Curt joined the Army, and served as a mechanic. After his time in the Army, Curt moved back and worked primarily as a dye maker for many years.

In 2014 Curt and his longtime friend Toni, began a relationship. Curt worked up the courage and asked Toni out on a date to his favorite pizza place, Harris Pizza. That first date must have been special, because not to long after Curt asked Toni to move in. Toni had a slight hesitation, you see, Curt’s house was lacking adequate closet space for Toni. This didn’t stop Curt. Within a couple of days he invited her over to his house, to unveil a new closet with all the space she needed. Toni moved in right away.

Curt wasn’t much of a romantic, but something about Toni brought out his sentimental side. The ring Curt used to propose included an old family diamond, the diamond used in his grandfathers HAM radio. Toni said yes, and the two have been happily engaged ever since.

If you were looking for Curt, you would most likely find him fishing. One of his favorite hot spots was down at the Y in Sabula, IA. Curt always said that’s where he was chasing “Walter”, the fabled 10lb Bass that lurked deep in the murky pond. Curt never caught “Walter”, but the many hours he had enjoyed fishing with his son made up for it.

Curt loved his family, and especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren. A favorite activity of theirs was to ride around on the four wheelers. Curt also loved his dogs. Over the years he shared his home with many dogs from Snickers to Tiffany to Kodiak, his 160lb Alaskan malamute. And of course his two current dogs, Tundra and Nooka. Curt was a handyman, and took great pride in his home, sitting on the Iowa banks of the Mississippi. He was a man of God, and would say “my church is right outside my front door.”

Curt is survived by his fiancé, Toni Parr of Sabula; his mother, JoAnn Aguirre, of Sabula; two sons, Stephen Hank of Colorado, and Matthew (Amanda) Hank of Thomson; five brothers and sisters, Larry (Brenda) Hank of Liberty Center, IN, Lynn (John) Johnson of Sabula, Kim (Chuck) Sandholdt of Sabula, Rodney (Janet) Hank of Castle Rock, CO, and JoEllen (Jason) Zeimet of DeWitt; and by three grandchildren, Myra, Brycee, and Beckett. Curt is preceded in death by his father, Robert Hank, and his grandparents, Marion and Elizabeth McCollam
