Connie Charwood

January 19, 1958 — February 21, 2017

Connie S. Charwood, age 59, of Milledgeville, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, Illinois, surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Milledgeville United Methodist Church in Milledgeville. Burial will take place in Oak Knoll Cemetery rural Sterling. A visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, at the church prior to the service. A memorial fund has been established in Connie’s memory.
Connie was born January 19, 1958 in Sterling, the daughter of John L. and Joyce Ruth (Weaver) Bumphrey. She attended Mt. Carroll High School. Connie worked at Elkay in Lanark, Illinois for a short time. She worked in several area restaurants as a waitress and a cook for many years. Connie received her Certified Nurse’s Assistant license and worked at Stephenson County Nursing Center in Freeport, Illinois. She later went to work for Northern Lights Casino as security officer, where she met her husband, Darrell Charwood. They were married in Walker, Minnesota. Darrell passed away in 2011.
Connie was a member of the Milledgeville United Methodist Church. In her younger years, Connie enjoyed riding horses. She also enjoyed crocheting, taking care of her house plants, planting flowers in her yard and listening to Elvis. Most of all Connie treasured her dogs and her family.
Connie is lovingly remembered by her three children, Michael (Cindy) Imel of Morrison, Illinois, Matt Imel of Franklin Grove, Illinois, Michelle (Kipp) Offill of Rock Falls, Illinois; two step-sons, Darrell (Jan) Charwood II of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Michael Charwood of Walker, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Keaton Gaul, Justice Imel, Erin Shepard, Heather (Roman Fernandez) Fischbach, Chloe Stingley, Wade and Wyatt Charwood; three great-grandchildren, Kailyn and Karleigh Humphrey, Drake Rangel; three brothers, Ronald Bumphrey of Savanna, Illinois, Don Bumphrey of Las Vegas, Nevada, John (Elaine) Bumphrey II, William (Ronda) Bumphrey of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; and a sister, Penny Kramer of Savanna. Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell; parents; a sister in infancy, Diane; and a sister-in-law, Victoria Bumphrey.
