Connie Bateman, age 62, of Chadwick, Illinois died Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Serenity Hospice House, Oregon, Illinois. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll, Illinois with visitation one hour prior to the service at the Mount Carroll Funeral Home. Memorials may be given for the Serenity Hospice House in Oregon. Condolences and tributes may be left for the family at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com
Connie was born September 17, 1948 in Oskaloosa, IA, the daughter of Carl and Hallene (Lenox) Darland. She is a 1966 graduate of the Oskaloosa High School, Oskaloosa, Iowa. Connie worked in medical transcription for Mahaska County, Iowa, the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and Spheris Corp, retiring in 2005. She loved her grandchildren, enjoyed cooking, watching youth softball, and following the Lady Vols softball and basketball teams.
Connie will be dearly missed by her companion, Toni Schreiner of Chadwick; two daughters, Jill (Doug) Conner of Loveland, Colorado and Jenny (Derric) Clark of Mesa, Arizona; two sons, Kyle (fiancée Erica) Bateman of Biloxi, Mississippi and Carl Bateman of Loveland; seven grandchildren; one great grandson; her parents, Carl and Hallene Darland of Oskaloosa, Iowa; one sister, Michele (Steve) Johnson of Beacon, Iowa; and three brothers, Mike (Diane) Darland of University Park, Iowa, Kenny (Debbie) Darland of Montezuma, Iowa and Mark Darland of Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Connie and her family cannot say enough great things about of the care they received at the Serenity Hospice Home in Oregon, Illinois as the provided the the best possible environment for spending one's final moments. The staff of Serenity Home are all angels and the family will forever be indebted to them for the guidance in this time of need.
