Colleen M. Becker, age 60, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at her home. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mt.Carroll. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will follow the service in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Memorials may be directed the family.
Colleen was born August 23, 1951, in Freeport, Illinois, the daughter of Allen and Marilyn (Getz) Becker. She graduated from Mt. Carroll High School with the Class of 1969. She attended Sterling Cosmetology School and graduated in 1970. Colleen married Albert Dudley in 1970 and they later divorced. She married Paul Engelkens in 1980 and were divorced in 1992.

Colleen owned and operated a beauty shop in Mt. Carroll for many years. She also drove school bus for the Mt. Carroll School District and did some factory work. Because of health problems, she resigned from driving bus and later closed her beauty shop in 1994. Colleen was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Carroll, where she was confirmed in 1965. She enjoyed gardening and canning the produce from her garden. Colleen also enjoyed crocheting, fishing, and loved playing the piano, a love she passed down to her daughter Jessica, who wrote many songs with her. Colleen cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Colleen is survived and lovingly remembered by three daughters, Linda Kadow of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, Stacey (Terry) Gilmore of Mt. Carroll, and Jessica Engelkens of Mt. Carroll; her mother, Marilyn Becker of Mt. Carroll; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Beverly (Jim) Hufman of Morrison, Illinois, and Elaine (Gerard) Morhardt of Mt. Carroll; and one brother, Wayne (Kathy) Becker of Mt. Carroll.
Colleen was preceded in death by her father, Allen Becker.
