Clifford Gerald Nordwell, age 90, of Savanna, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Savanna Township Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by the Savanna VFW & American Legion.
Clifford was born August 10, 1922 in Savanna, the son of Nels Theodore and Lavetta (Grayless) Nordwell. He is a graduate of the Savanna High School. Clifford served his country in the US Army from 1942 to 1945 during WWII.
Clifford worked as a Chief Clerk for the Milwaukee Railroad for twenty-two years, retiring in 1968. He also worked fourteen years as a toll-taker on the Savanna-Sabula bridge. Clifford was a member of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints and the American Legion Post #148, Savanna.
Clifford is survived by a son Gerald Lyndon Detlefsen and wife Sandra Ellen Detlefsen and two grandsons Thomas Hatfield Detlefsen and Andrew Evan Detlefsen of Carbondale, Colorado and many friends. He is preceded in death by a brother, Harold B. Stakemiller, and both parents.
