Clifford "Cliff" Long

Clifford “Cliff” Long age 61, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. A Celebration of Cliff’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 3, 2015 at Old Mill Park in Savanna, Illinois. Cremation rites will be accorded and burial of cremated remains will take place in Savanna Township Cemetery in Savanna at a later date. A memorial fund has been established in Cliff’s memory.
Cliff was born September 8, 1953 the son of David and Mildred (Dickman) Long in Savanna. He attended Savanna High School. Cliff worked for Drives in Fulton, Illinois for twenty eight years retiring in 1998. He married Kristie Vankuren in 1972 in Thomson, Illinois. They had two daughters, Amy and Jamie. They later divorced.
Cliff enjoyed roller skating and dancing in his younger years. In his later years, Cliff’s true passion was gardening he was known for his green thumb. He spent much of his time outside listening to flowing water in his garden pond. Cliff took pride in his fish both inside and out with his loving dog, Kallie at his side.
Cliff will be dearly missed by his two daughters, Amy Green of Clinton, Jamie (Jordan) McWethy of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; six grandchildren; a great grandson; one great granddaughter; five brothers, Lee (Jane) Kehoe of Savanna, Chris (Cheryl) Long of Savanna, Dale (Pat) Long of Baltimore, Maryland, Dean Long of Tucson, Arizona, Mark (Steve) Long of Tuscon; three sisters, Carol Stricklin of Savanna, Gale (Duane) Hall of South Carolina, Jackie Smith of Savanna; a sister in-law, Deb Long of Savanna; special friend Jerry Saunders of Clinton. Cliff is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ted Long and a niece, Rachel Spears.
