Clifford "Cork" Malone

Clifford “Cork” Malone, age 83, of Clinton, Iowa, formerly of Sabula, Iowa, died Sunday, November 4, 2012, at his home in Clinton. Cremation rites will be accorded. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at the Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula. Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army or the Clinton County Humane Society in Cork’s memory.
Cork was born December 2, 1928, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Clifford Malone and Neatha Dorathy Finch. He attended school in Clinton. Cork served in the United States Army During World War II. Cork married Joyce Huebner on April 23, 1948, in Clinton. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2007.
Cork worked as a carpenter and mill right, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed participating in the Coon Dog Field Trials.
Cork is survived by two daughters, Merlyn (John) Law of Clinton, Iowa, and Patricia (Robert) Lutz of Clinton; two sons, Michael Malone of Maquoketa, Iowa, and John (Wendy) Malone of Miles, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and a seventeenth due in November, and was anticipating his first great – great granddaughter in December; two sisters, Judy Brown of Clinton, and Linda (Ed) Fall of Camanche, Iowa; one brother, Jack (Deb) Finch of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and his special friend and companion, Vera Weber of Clinton.
Cork was preceded in death by his parents; one great grandson, Kye Robert Smith; two sisters, Janeen Buelow and Nancy Finch; five brothers, Darwin Malone, Larry Finch, Michael Finch, Keith Malone, and Dean Malone; and one step brother, Ronald Stauffer.
