Cleo F. Bowman, age 83, of Preston, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2006 at her home. A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 3, 2006 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston, Iowa. Pastor Gregory Geier will officiate. Burial will be in the Preston Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 3, 2006, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston. Cleo was born on December 3, 1922, in Buckeye-Van Buren Township, Jackson County, Iowa the daughter of Alfred D. and Clara E. (Godes) Mohr. She attended Buckeye School. Cleo married Arthur D. Bowman on November 28, 1954, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston, Iowa.
Cleo was a homemaker. In her early years, she was a piano and accordion teacher, and also a member of the Eastern Star. Cleo was a longtime member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston. Her hobbies included gardening, reading and embroidering. She also enjoyed music and writing in journals. Most of all, Cleo loved cooking for her family and spending time with them.
Cleo is survived by her husband, Arthur Bowman of Preston, Iowa; two daughters, Diane Marie (Jerry) Engelkins of Morrison, Illinois, Carol Jean (Larry “Butch”) Clark of Zwingle, Iowa; three grandchildren, Amanda (Eric) Kienzle of Monticello, Iowa, Melissa Clark (Dennis Manders) of Zwingle, Iowa, and Clayton Clark of Zwingle, Iowa; two step-grandchildren, Lisa Engelkins of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Chad (Shelley) Engelkins of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and three step-great-grandchildren, Sierra, Jake, and Grace of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Cleo is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Claus Mohr.
