Clarinda Jane Kampas, age 77, of Fulton, Illinois, previously of Savanna and Lake in the Hills, died Monday, June 3, 2013 at Lake in the Hills, in the care of her loving family. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Hickory Grove Church in Wacker, Illinois, with a luncheon at 12:00 noon at the United Methodist Church, Thomson, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Law- Jones Funeral Home in Savanna.
Clarinda was born March 1, 1936 the daughter of Kenneth and Helen (Corwin) Johnson in Anamosa, Iowa. She attended Savanna schools and later went to Elgin Community College and Northern Illinois University.
Clarinda was an O. R. Nurse at Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights for 20 years. She then worked as a traveling nurse for 12 years, until retirement. She enjoyed traveling and living all over the world, and visited all of her children often. She loved to sew and keep the family cooking traditions, as well as keeping family genealogy. She was a member of the New Hampshire Red Hat Society.
Clarinda will be dearly missed by her daughter, Cheryl (Todd) Friend of Crowley, Texas; four sons, Thomas Kampas of Moss Landing, California, Kenneth Kampas of Marktigraitz, Germany, Bradley (Mary) Kampas of Larkspur, California, and Terrance(Danette) Kampas Sr. of Lake in the Hills, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Jennifer von Warmerdam, Corwyn Kampas, Heather Zaluga, Terrance Kampas, Jr., Samantha Kampas, Chance Friend, Spencer Friend and MacKenzie Friend; three great-grandchildren , Fey Kampas, Thys and Colm von Warmerdam; four brothers, James (Ruby) Johnson of Mt. Carroll, Charles (Sharon) Johnson of Savanna, Illinois, Kevin Johnson of Clinton, Iowa, and Allen Johnson of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin; and two sisters, Lois (Ray) Sabin of Hampshire, Illinois and Kathy (Terry) Hans of Fulton, Illinois.
Clarinda is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Helen Johnson; one brother, Blaine “Mike” Johnson; and one sister- in law, Lois Johnson.
