Clarence was born on August 5, 1952, the son of Elwin L. and Charlotte Ann (Lahre) Rice Sr. in Savanna, Illinois. He graduated from Normal High School in Normal, Illinois. Clarence married Anna M. Hadrie on July 23, 1983 in the First United Methodist Church, Savanna.
Clarence drove truck most of his life, beginning while working as a farm hand on the McGinnis Farm, Thomson. He was taught to drive truck by Junior McGinnis and never looked back. He loved driving truck and was good at what he did. Even Clarence’s children would join him on the road, travelling all across the country. The only thing Clarence loved more than driving truck was his family. Most recently he was employed by Schafer Fisheries and Trucking, Fulton, Illinois.
Clarence enjoyed working with his hands and was talented in woodworking and skilled at putting together plastic models. He was a “Jack of all Trades” and could drive and fix anything, including his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, which he enjoyed riding. Clarence also enjoyed drawing and watching movies, especially anything starring John Wayne. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him.
Clarence is survived by his former wife, Anna Rice of Eleva, Wisconsin; three children, Tashina Ann Rice of Eleva, Wisconsin, Aneida Marie Rice of Clinton, Iowa, and Daniel Nelson Rice of Eleva, Wisconsin; three brothers, Elwin L. (Christine) Rice Jr. of Savanna, Illinois, Francis E. (Janice) Rice of Knoxville, Illinois, and Raymond C. Rice of Eleva, Wisconsin; one sister, Hazel H. Steffes of Savanna, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
Clarence was preceded in death by two brothers, Vearl and Lawrence.
