Clarence “Bud” A. Dunn, age 75 of Mount Carroll, Illinois, died on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Iowa City V.A. Healthcare System, Iowa City Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Mt. Carroll. Burial will take place in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Mt. Carroll with Military rites accorded by the Mt. Carroll American Legion Post #67. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2013 at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt Carroll. Bud was born on February 19, 1938, the son of Albert and Otella (Sturtevant) Dunn in Savanna, Illinois. He was raised in Savanna and graduated from Savanna High School with the Class of 1957. He first worked in the Savanna Greenhouse until he was drafted in 1961. Bud proudly served his country in the United States Army, Tank Division in Germany. After he was honorably discharged in September of 1963 he married Joyce L. Geisz on October 26, 1963.
Bud worked several different jobs, mostly working outdoors. He owned and operated Hilltop Floral from 1971-1998 with his wife, Joyce. He also managed the Savanna Marina from 1995-1999. Bud and his wife traveled with the Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League and worked as tournament staff at several different events. He most recently worked as a groundskeeper for the Clinton Country Club and later the Palisades Golf Course, Savanna. Bud was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and previously served on the Mt. Carroll School Board. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed golfing and watching the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears.
Bud will be dearly missed by his wife, Joyce of Mt. Carroll; two sons, Doug (Bonnie) Dunn of Thomson, Illinois and Bill Dunn of Mt. Carroll; one aunt, Martha Canavan of Savanna; one brother in-law, Paul Grissinger of Savanna; three sister in-laws, Marilyn (Dennis) Wurster, Karen (Philip) Gorham and Barbara (Mike) Henningsen and several nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by parents and one sister, Helen Grissinger.
