Clara M. Bauer

Clara M. Bauer, age 90, of Savanna, IL, passed away Monday, February 28, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family. A funeral service will be held Sunday, March 6, 2022 at 3pm at Law Jones Funeral Home, in Savanna. Visitation will take place from 1pm to 3pm before the service. Burial will follow at Savanna Township Cemetery.

Clara was born October 11, 1931, in Morrison, IL, the daughter of William and Edith (McDonald) Hamm. She attended Thomson, IL schools. On November 12, 1949, she married Arnold Bauer; together they would go on to have six children.

Clara spent five years working for Eaton Corp. but was predominantly a homemaker. She loved time with her family and even spent many summers working alongside her family at Camp Benson. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and many of her grandchildren had special names for her such as “flower”, “bug”, and “elephant.” In her free time she loved tending to her flowers, gardening and canning, embroidering and reading (especially Amish books). And of course, she adored her many pets over the years.

Clara is survived by five children, Diane (Paul) Wurster, Ronald Bauer, Kenneth Bauer, Robert (Teresa) Bauer, and Debra (Marvin) Basten; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren (with another one on the way!); two sisters, Betty (Clarence) Dellinger and Shirley Reiland; and many nieces and nephews, Clara is preceded in death by her parents, William and Edith; husband, Arnold; son, Richard Bauer; two great-great-grandchildren, Zoey, Archie and Angel; seven brothers; and 6 sisters; as well as many beloved pets.
