Christina K. Nolting, age 84, of Preston, Iowa, died Friday, May 21, 2010, at the Eagle Point Nursing Home in Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 24, 2010, at the Salem Lutheran Church in Spragueville, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Spragueville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the church on Monday prior to the funeral. Memorials may be made to the Salem Lutheran Church or the Spragueville American Legion Auxiliary in Christina’s honor.
Christina was born August 1, 1925, in Preston, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Henricksen) Jansen. She attended school in a one room school house at Fairfield Township, Iowa, and later earned her GED. Christina was married to John C. Nolting on February 14, 1952, at the Salem Lutheran Church in Spragueville, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2010.
Christina farmed with her husband in the Preston area for fifty – eight years. Before she was married, Christina worked as a nurse’s aid at Jane Lamb Hospital in Clinton for a year and later went back to work at Crest Ridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, Iowa, for ten years. Christina was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Spragueville and the Spragueville American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crossword puzzles and cards, but most importantly she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Christina is survived and lovingly remembered by three daughters, Nancy (Ronald) Eshelman of Des Moines, Iowa, Karen (Joseph) Webb of Fulton, Illinois, and Mary (Douglas) Hartman of Fulton; seven grandchildren, Susan Eshelman, Ronald (Jessica) Eshelman Jr., John Webb, Maryann Webb, Jason Webb, Brett (Britni) Hartman, and Nathan Hartman; six great grandchildren; and two brothers – in – law, Loren (Geraldine) Nolting of Preston, and Wayne (Arlene) Nolting of Preston.
Christina was preceded in death by her parents and her husband John.
