Cheryl Ann Temple

August 8, 1951 — April 23, 2026

Clinton, Iowa

Cheryl Ann Temple, 74, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the Sarah Harding Home in Clinton, Iowa.

Cheryl was born August 8, 1951, in Freeport, Illinois. She was raised the daughter of Ken and Arlene (Potter) Starr.

A 1969 graduate of Thomson High School, Cheryl was a people person. She was known for her sense of humor, generous heart, and love of music. It was only natural that she made her career where people gathered and had fun. Cheryl worked for many years tending bar at several places in Fulton, retiring in 2017 after nine years at Manny’s Too in Fulton. Her work introduced her to a broad circle of friends and regulars who meant the world to her; she cherished those connections and the stories they shared.

Cheryl loved fishing, reading, researching family ancestry, trips to the beach, taking cruises, and even singing and dancing. She had a strong belief in God and in the power of family and friendship.

She was first married to Larry Housenga in May 1969; they had two daughters, Michele and Mary. The couple divorced in 1979. Larry and Cheryl remained friends later in life. Larry passed away April 23, 2010, which coincidentally is the same date as Cheryl.

Cheryl married Ron “Pee Wee” Temple in 1983; they divorced in 2000. Ron passed away December 28, 2022.

Cheryl will be dearly missed by her daughters, Michele (Phil) Petersen of Clinton and Mary (Terry Easter) Clark of Fulton; special daughters Traci McQuistion and Angie Price along with many that called her Ma; 9 grandchildren, Nona (Cody Swanson) Kaecker, Courtnee (Patrick Knapp) Kaecker, Brandon (Hope Scully) Kaecker, Abigale and Logan Merema, Brooklynne and Mallory Clark, Abigail (Adam) Mitchell, and Zachary (Shelby) Petersen; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Cathy (Marv) Green of Argo Fay and Theresa (Chas) Hermann of Naples, Florida; and her sister-in-law, Linda Starr of Thomson.

She was preceded in death by both husbands; her parents; three brothers, Richard Shear, Randy Starr, and Steve Starr; a sister, Kimberly Sue Starr; a sister-in-law, Kay Shear; and a great-niece, Wrenlee Shear.

Cheryl spent her final months in hospice care and was lovingly cared for by family and staff. She passed while holding daughter Michele’s hand, which was a comfort to the family.

A celebration of Cheryl’s life will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Manny’s Too in Fulton. Law Jones Funeral Home is entrusted with Cheryl’s care.
